TROY, Mich. – Trion Solutions is used to dealing in big numbers.  It manages payroll and taxes, workers compensation, benefits and government compliance for hundreds of companies; issues W-2 forms to tens of thousands of client employees; and, processes payroll in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

Now, Trion Solutions is committing to further big numbers.  The company announced today it has signed a 10-year lease to move its corporate headquarters this summer to 33,397 sq. ft. in the newly refurbished and expanding City Center office building at 888 W. Big Beaver Road, near Crooks Road, in Troy. It will occupy the entire 10th floor and half of the 9th floor of the building.  Trion Solutions’ name will be permanently displayed on the building facing Big Beaver Road.

Currently, Trion’s headquarters is in the Pentacentre office building. less than two miles from where the corporate office will be relocated in the months ahead.

“Our company has achieved some amazing growth and we simply outgrew our current space,”  said David Stone, president, who co-founded Trion Solutions with Bonner Upshaw III in 2012, shortly after the Professional Employer Organization (PEO) industry became regulated in the
state of Michigan.

According to the National Association of Professional Employer Organizations (NAPEO), approximately 175,000 small- to medium-sized businesses in the United States outsource their Human Resources-related work to an estimated 900 individual PEO companies.  Trion Solutions is the largest Michigan-based PEO and the largest minority-owned PEO in the United States.
It operates in nearly every state in the United States.

“More and more businesses are realizing they can outsource to experts their Human Resources, workers compensation, benefits administration and payroll and taxes so they can keep focused on their core businesses,” said Upshaw.  “And, all of us at Trion are so grateful to our client companies that depend on us to help them succeed and grow their businesses.”

The research and options that Trion considered were led by Trion Solutions’ Chief Operating Officer Craig Vanderburg and President Stone and was conducted over the past 12 months.

“We looked at a number of cities in the area,” said Vanderburg, “but, in the end, we decided we wanted to stay in Troy near our current location.  We were so impressed with the investment made to transform City Center into an amazing development of office space, restaurants and residential-living, along with a newly built parking deck.”

Ara Topouzian, president and CEO, Troy Chamber of Commerce (www.troychamber.com ), said, “Trion Solutions has an excellent reputation as being a true leader in the HR-outsourcing business.  We couldn’t be happier to have them remaining and growing further in Troy.  The city of Troy continues to attract and retain major corporate businesses such as Trion — a testament to the combined economic development efforts of our city, county, state and Troy Chamber. It speaks volumes when an existing company is retained and grows so exponentially in Troy.”

Chuck Howard, senior vice president of Transwestern (www.transwestern.com), Trion’s commercial  real-estate advisors, said, “Trion Solutions, as one of the largest human-resources companies in the  United States, required a prominent location and ideally wanted its headquarters to remain in Troy. City Center at 888 W. Big Beaver Road provides Trion a central location, visibility to I-75 and other amenities to continue attracting top talent.”

The interior-design work on Trion’s new office space is being done by Davis & Davis Interior Design, Farmington Hills, Mich., www.DavisInteriorDesign.com.

“Trion Solutions will be in world-class, elegant, classy and contemporary space,” said  Howard Davis, principal and CEO, Davis & Davis Interiors.  “It will be an open and inviting environment for Trion employees, clients and visitors.  An unusual aspect is that the interior will feature almost exclusively full-glass walls that allow natural light to flood into the space – making it most welcoming and engaging for all.”

Michelle Davis, principal and design director, Davis & Davis Interiors, said, “Trion Solutions is in the business of helping its clients succeed and attract and retain top talent.  The company wanted its new space to achieve the same with space that functions efficiently and effectively to achieve a real sense of well-being – in an engaging and beautiful environment.”

Trion was recognized earlier this year by the National Association for Business Resources (NABR) as one of its Best and Brightest Companies to Work For®. This is the third-consecutive year Trion Solutions has been selected for the national honor.
