TROY, Mich. – Ernst & Young LLP (EY) has named David L. Stone, Esq., President and Co-Founder of Trion Solutions, Inc., among the finalists for its prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year® awards, Michigan-Northwest Ohio region.
Trion Solutions, which was founded in 2012 by Stone and business partner Bonner Upshaw III, has grown into one of the United States’ largest HR-administration companies working with hundreds of client businesses throughout the nation to manage payroll and taxes, benefits administration, workers’ compensation and regulatory compliance.
Before his years with Trion Solutions, he was the owner and CEO of an HR-administration company that merged with a similar firm owned by Upshaw to create Trion Solutions. Trion is a certified minority-owned corporation and the largest privately-owned Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs) in the state of Michigan.
In addition to his management role as Trion President, he is a highly regarded attorney — specializing in human resources and other corporate-workplace issues. Previous to running his own companies, spent several years in the Litigation Department at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan assisting counsel in all aspects of trial litigation.
He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Corporate Finance from Western Michigan University, for which he is a long-time WMU Alumni Association Admission Ambassador. He earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, at which he has served as a Mercy Law Moot Court Moderator. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan.
And, Stone is an active corporate leader in the community, actively supporting many non-profit organizations that focus on mental health, education, literacy, autism and helping those with disabilities.
Trion Solutions recently moved into new, expanded headquarters at 888 W. Big Beaver Road, Troy, Mich., and has announced several exciting initiatives in 2019, including: sponsorship of Marco Andretti’s Indy Car at next month’s Indianapolis 500 and both Detroit Grand Prix races in early June; naming rights to a 160-yard-long cabana of 24 suites at the PGA Tour’s Rocket Mortgage Classic in late June at Detroit Golf Club; and, sponsoring one of the character balloons in America’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in downtown Detroit.
