Trion Solutions’ David L. Stone, Esq., named among those to represent Michigan-Northwest Ohio at EY Entrepreneur of the Year® Awards in Palm Springs, CA, this November

President and Co-Founder of HR-Administration company named with eight other winners at Detroit ceremony; now advancing to national awards program

TROY, Mich. –  David L. Stone, Esq., President and Co-Founder of Trion Solutions, Inc., was selected by a panel of prominent award judges to be among nine entrepreneurs from a total of 27 finalists to represent the Michigan-Northwest Ohio region at the EY Entrepreneur of the Year® national awards, November 16, 2019, in Palm Springs, Calif.  The announcement was made at a special Gala awards ceremony at the Detroit Institute of Arts on Tuesday, June 18.

The national awards event this November is the culminating event in a weeklong gathering at EY’s Strategic Growth Forum® — touted as “the nation’s most prestigious gathering of high-growth, market-leading companies.”  An Entrepreneur of the Year overall award winner will represent the United States against 59 other countries at the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year Award event in Monaco in June 2020.  

“This honor reinforces the tremendously hard work of our supremely talented team at Trion,” said Stone.  “The award is so meaningful to me as both an entrepreneur and as the President  of a company that serves entrepreneurs, helping them succeed and remain focused on their core business.”

Trion Solutions was co-founded in 2012 by Stone and business partner Bonner Upshaw III, and since has grown into one of the United States’ largest HR-administration companies.  The company works with more than 600 client businesses throughout the nation to manage payroll and taxes, benefits administration, workers’ compensation and regulatory compliance.

Before Stone’s years with Trion Solutions, he was the owner and CEO of an HR-administration company that merged with a similar firm owned by Upshaw to create Trion Solutions. Trion is a certified minority-owned corporation and the largest privately-owned Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs) in the state of Michigan.

In addition to his management role as Trion President, he is a highly regarded attorney — specializing in human resources and other corporate-workplace issues. Previous to running his own companies, spent several years in the Litigation Department at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan assisting counsel in all aspects of trial litigation.

He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Corporate Finance from Western Michigan University, for which he is a long-time WMU Alumni Association Admission Ambassador.  He earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, at which he has served as a Mercy Law Moot Court Moderator.  He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan.
